"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. "
Meca Elementary Christian School was established in December 1994, by God’s House of Brotherly Love under the guidance of Bishop Howard O. Abbey along with a Board of Directors with the goal of providing quality education in a Christian atmosphere. It opened it’s facilities to all races, creeds, and denominations in the Midwest Cook County area to anyone that shared its goals.
Why Choose A Christian School?
The choice you make for your children's education shapes them academically, spiritually, and in their worldview and skills. At Christian schools, the faculty and staff are equipped to address each of these developing areas of a child's life. These schools take seriously the responsibility to develop children's minds, but they don't distance God from academics. They know that developing skills in young people is essential to helping them reach their God-given potential.
Christian educators help cultivate a worldview in which God has His rightful place, and they look to the Bible for guidance in answering life's big questions. These teachers enhance children's spiritual development in an intentional, nurturing manner.
Students often build and strengthen their relationships with Jesus through fellowship with other students, teachers and chaperones outside of the traditional educational experience. Theseunique opportunities build strong ties between teachers and students that facilitate the impartation of wisdom and knowledge both inside and outside the classroom.Every year our students have the opportunity to take trips to enhance learning beyond the walls of Meca.
Our approach to academics is twofold. First, we aim to teach each subject from a biblical perspective. Second, our goal is to produce students ready to use their analytical skills to tackle the problems and difficulties of their day. We offer advanced curriculum, and our graduates have received letters of acceptance from the following high school and college preparatory programs: Proviso Math & Science Academy, Providence St. Mel School, Walther Christian High School, Christ the King Jesuit College Preparatory School, and St. Joseph High School.
Our extracurricular activities are meant to foster student growth and enhance school, family, and community relationships. Most of our extracurricular activities are parent-planned, parent-organized and parent-led, providing invaluable leadership in the following activities: Spelling Bee Team, Spanish Club, Praise Dance Team, Chess Club, Concert Band Program, Drama Club, and Choir
